HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities within HDR’s Transportation Business Group.

The role starts with internal solution development, data foundation improvements, and bottleneck identification, then expands toward client-facing AI delivery as capabilities mature. The position focuses on translating ambiguous problems into scalable AI solutions, collaborating across teams, and contributing to the evolution of repeatable services while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with generative AI and modern AI services.
• Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and maintaining data and AI solutions in cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience managing end-to-end data science projects and model lifecycles.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced Degree
• Experience designing or improving data pipelines and AI infrastructure.
• Consulting or professional services experience.
• Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications.

Responsibilities

• Internal AI Capability Development: Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation business needs; build reusable components and data pipelines; manage full model lifecycle.
• Constraint & Bottleneck Identification: Identify limitations in data, integration, tooling, governance; collaborate with IT and stakeholders; document gaps.
• Collaboration & Communication: Translate ambiguous problems into AI solutions; communicate concepts to varied audiences.
• Future Client-Facing Work: Support client pursuits and pilot projects using internal AI capabilities; contribute to repeatable AI services.
