Job summary

EY Challenger is seeking a seasoned engineer to turn emerging AI capabilities into durable products. You’ll own end-to-end slices, work close to users, and drive product decisions while prioritizing security, accessibility, and maintainability.

The role blends hands-on prototyping with production-ready services and requires travel up to 50% in a hybrid office setting. The Challenger program builds new EY services with dedicated teams, testing ideas in real conditions and transitioning successful

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant and applicable experience
• Technical breadth across modern frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies
• Applied AI experience with large language models, retrieval, tools, or comparable AI patterns
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and behavioral evaluation
• Live-service ownership including telemetry, debugging, reliability and incident response
• User-centered practice working with users, designers, and product leaders
• Engineering craft with clear specifications, maintainable code, thoughtful review, and sound technical trade-offs
• This role requires up to 50% travel and hybrid office capability

Responsibilities

• Start with the user by working directly with users and domain experts.
• Test assumptions quickly by turning product hypotheses into specifications and prototypes.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and enterprise integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use.
• Build an evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption and behavior to system performance and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permission boundaries, data handling, and graceful degradation.
• Own production quality by releasing incrementally and monitoring live behavior.
• Make practical trade-offs among experience, quality, speed, reliability and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and evaluation assets to the broader platform
