Job summary

EY’s Challenger program seeks an experienced engineer to turn AI capabilities into durable products. You will own end-to-end slices across UX, services, data, and AI behavior, close to users and production code, from prototype to secure service.

The role emphasizes responsible use, testing, and measured trade-offs to deliver value. The team builds reusable patterns and operates in a hybrid environment with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack capability across modern frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience building products with large language models, retrieval, tools, or comparable AI patterns.
• Experience designing representative tests and experiments for probabilistic systems.
• Telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, and performance improvement demonstrated in live services.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user and work with domain experts to understand real workflows and identify where AI adds value.
• Test assumptions quickly by turning hypotheses into small releases with evidence.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, and structured outputs; adapt when evidence supports it.
• Build the evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations of usefulness, correctness, accessibility, and safety.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption and task success to system behavior, latency, failures, and cost.
• Ensure responsible use with clear permission boundaries, data handling, and rollback capabilities.
• Release incrementally, monitor live behavior, respond to incidents, and turn failures into durable improvements.
