Job summary

EY is seeking a seasoned engineer to join Challenger, EY's program building next-generation services with AI. You will own end-to-end product slices, from user conversations to production code, balancing speed with accessibility and maintainability.

You’ll work in small, dedicated teams testing ideas in real conditions, turning AI demos into durable, scalable offerings while collaborating across product, design, and control domains. Travel up to 50% is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: taking software from concept through launch, learning, and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies.
• Applied AI experience with large language models, retrieval, tools, or comparable AI patterns.
• Evaluation experience: automated testing and behavioral evaluation for probabilistic systems.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, and performance improvement.
• User-centered practice: working with users, designers, and product leaders to inform decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specifications, maintainable code, thorough review, and sound trade-offs.
• Travel and On-site: up to 50% travel and hybrid office.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user and understand real workflows to identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use.
• Build the evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Connect outcomes to behavior by instrumenting user journeys and telemetry.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and rollback.
• Own production quality: release incrementally, monitor, and recover from incidents.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and evaluation assets across the platform.
