Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to turn emerging AI capabilities into durable product solutions across user-focused workflows. You will operate as an end-to-end builder, moving from user conversations to prototypes, secure services, and production evaluation within Challenger. The role emphasizes ownership, speed, accessibility, and maintainability in a hybrid U.S.

Qualifications

• Must have a track record of delivering customer- or employee-facing software from concept through launch, learning, and adoption.
• Hands-on experience building products with large language models, retrieval, tools, or comparable AI patterns.
• Experience designing representative tests and experiments for probabilistic systems.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user: work with users and domain experts to understand workflows and identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly: turn hypotheses into specs, prototypes, and small releases with evidence.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and enterprise integrations.
• Shape AI behavior: design instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use with evidence-based tuning.
• Build the evidence system: create tasks and automated evaluations to show usefulness, correctness, safety, accessibility, and improvement.
• Connect outcomes to behavior: instrument journeys to relate adoption to system performance and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use: implement permissions, data handling, human checks, degradation, and rollback.
• Own production quality: release incrementally, monitor, respond to incidents, and drive improvements.
• Make practical trade-offs: balance experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost with deterministic approaches when suitable.
• Contribute reusable patterns: share components and evaluation assets while maintaining accountability for performance.
