Job summary

EY invites experienced engineers to join Challenger, EY's program for developing next-gen AI-enabled services. Join small, focused teams to build end-to-end products from user conversations to production services, emphasizing safe, accessible, and scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes ownership across the full stack, rapid experimentation, and collaboration with product, design, and platform teams. Travel up to 50% and hybrid office work are expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant and applicable experience.
• End-to-end delivery: taking software from concept through launch, learning and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies with shipped work.
• Applied AI experience: building products with large language models, retrieval, tools, or similar AI patterns.
• Evaluation experience: automated testing and behavioral evaluation for probabilistic systems.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, recovery and performance improvement.
• User-centered practice: working directly with users, designers, and product leaders to inform decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specifications, maintainable code, thoughtful review, and sound trade-offs.
• Travel up to 50% and hybrid office flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user by understanding workflows with domain experts.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specifications, prototypes and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use.
• Build an evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Connect outcomes to behavior by instrumenting user journeys and measuring adoption and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permission boundaries and secure data handling.
• Own production quality with incremental releases, monitoring and incident response.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns by sharing components and evaluation assets.
