Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to guide an AAX squad, coaching 4–5 engineers and owning delivery from sprint planning to production. You will write code alongside your team, set technical direction, and lead the safe, scalable deployment of LLM-powered features for Jade and related experiences.

You will leverage AI tools to accelerate delivery, collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science, and drive a strong performance and on-call culture across the squad.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in people management responsibilities.
• Current, hands-on coding ability with ongoing coding activity.
• Track record of using AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) to accelerate delivery.
• AI-native fluency: build with LLMs and AI tooling and promote adoption across team.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered products including agents, evals, guardrails, and observability.
• Experience coaching team members on project execution, skill development, and progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk.
• Interest in scalable, high-performance systems and challenging engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4-5 engineers: Hiring, 1:1s, coaching, performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery for the squad, including sprint planning, SLAs, and health.
• Write and ship code alongside the team, including production PRs.
• Define technical direction, architecture, and quality with or without a tech lead.
• Use AI coding agents and tooling to raise team leverage and establish durable practices.
• Guide design and delivery of LLM-powered capabilities with guardrails and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk on scope and planning.
• Coordinate cross-functional tech capabilities and dependencies, and shape build decisions.
