Job summary

Chime is seeking a Director of Engineering for the AI & App Experience (AAX) organization to lead engineering strategy for Jade, the AI-powered financial assistant, and the AI platform. You will guide multi-quarter plans, build a leadership bench, and drive architectural alignment across consumer AI experiences and design systems.

You will work with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk to shape roadmaps, craft an engineering culture focused on AI-native development, and ensure safe, scalable

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years managing managers or leading multi-team engineering organizations
• Experience building and scaling AI/LLM-powered consumer products
• Strong technical fundamentals across React Native, Python or Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and distributed systems
• Excellent executive communication skills and ability to translate strategy into multi-quarter plans

Responsibilities

• Own multi-quarter strategy for AAX engineering in partnership with product
• Build and lead a leadership bench of technical leaders and staff
• Set technical direction and drive architectural alignment across AI experiences, AI Platform, App Journey, and Design System
• Foster AI-native engineering culture and safe shipping of LLM-powered features at scale
• Shape roadmaps with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk leadership
• Represent AAX in cross-functional and executive forums
• Cultivate high-performing culture with strong talent and career development
• Maintain strong operational practices across services and experiences
• Contribute to broader engineering initiatives as part of Chime’s leadership team
