Chime Financial, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for Jade, our AI-powered financial assistant in the AI & App Experience group. Lead a team of engineers shaping AI capabilities, while guiding architecture and productionizing AI tooling at scale.

You will hire, coach, and align the team with business goals, ensuring quality and reliability as Jade serves millions of members. This is a hybrid role based in New York.

Qualifications

• Software engineer with depth in Python, Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS services, and SOA.
• 2+ years of people management experience, coaching engineers on execution and growth.
• AI-native fluency: build with LLMs and AI tooling across the team.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered products (agents, evals, prompts, guardrails) or willingness to learn.
• Experience ensuring quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Interest in advancing technology, people, and org delivery for members.
• Strong ability to motivate teams under ambitious schedules.
• Enjoy learning deeply how systems work.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and hire a high-caliber team building Jade while guiding technical direction.
• Ensure decisions support quality, reliability, safety, and align with priorities.
• Set team objectives, provide clear expectations, and drive progress.
• Foster AI-native engineering culture and reusable AI workflows.
• Guide shipping of LLM-powered capabilities with guardrails and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk to launch solutions.
• Coach engineers on execution, skills, and career progression.
• Encourage innovation and smart risk-taking.
• Maintain on-call, monitoring, and incident-response practices.
• Contribute to engineering initiatives as part of leadership.
