Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead for part-time hours in the Katy area. You’ll lead a licensed school-age program, ensure safety, implement curriculum, and build strong relationships with families and schools.

The role requires leadership, planning, and compliance with licensing, with a focus on youth development and program quality. Competitive stipend adds to base pay for eligible locations.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• HS diploma or GED; 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management; two college courses equal 100 clock hours; Standard #744.1017.
• At least one year of experience working with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities and programming
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Ability to pass state and local background checks and FBI fingerprinting requirements
• Current TB test and any required health screenings or immunizations per state and local regulations

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: create a safe environment, supervise, headcounts, attendance, respond to emergencies per YMCA/state licensing.
• Site Management: act as the designated Texas Childcare Licensing Site Director; oversee daily operations and maintain site/equipment.
• Supervision and Safety: maintain records, monitor activities, safety compliance, incidents, and emergency responses.
• Behavior Management: implement positive behavior management techniques.
• Program & Policy Compliance: conduct safety drills, ensure postings, follow health/safety policies.
• Program Planning and Implementation: oversee age-appropriate activities; adapt to needs; evaluate effectiveness.
• Parent and Community Engagement: communicate with parents; address concerns professionally.
• Administrative Duties: maintain enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: promote enrollment and retention strategies.
• Program Quality: plan and implement curriculum-based activities.
• Program Evaluation: lead program quality interventions and monitoring.
• Child Abuse Prevention: report concerns; follow mandated reporting.
