Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring an Afterschool Site Lead to manage a licensed school-age program in Katy, Texas. You’ll ensure children are safe, engaged, and well-supervised while coordinating daily operations, implementing YMCA curriculum, and maintaining licensing compliance.

This is a part-time, on-site role with responsibilities spanning safety, program planning, family engagement, and administrative duties. A background in youth development and required certifications are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• HS diploma or GED with 70 clock hours of training in child/youth development, recreation leadership or management.
• At least 1 year of experience with youth in licensed childcare or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Able to pass state/federal background checks and FBI fingerprinting.
• TB test and health screenings/immunizations per state/local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: ensure a safe environment and proper supervision.
• Site Management: oversee daily operations and licensing compliance.
• Supervision and Safety: maintain attendance records and respond to emergencies.
• Behavior Management: apply positive behavior strategies.
• Program & Policy Compliance: follow licensing and YMCA policies and maintain postings.
• Program Planning and Implementation: deliver age-appropriate activities per curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement: communicate with families and partners.
• Administrative Duties: manage enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: develop strategies to grow and retain participants.
• Program Quality: implement curriculum and activities per YMCA standards.
• Program Evaluation: monitor participation and adjust programs as needed.
• Child Abuse Prevention: report concerns and ensure safe environment.
