Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is hiring a Program Director at the Vanderbilt YMCA in Manhattan to lead afterschool programs and ensure high-quality youth development. You will supervise staff, design engaging activities, and align with DYCD requirements, focusing on inclusion and mental wellness.

You will manage budgets, track outcomes, recruit and support a diverse team, and collaborate with schools and community partners to deliver safe, impactful programming for K-8 participants.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following credentials or equivalent: NYS Administrator Credential, School-Age Child Care Credential, or related qualifications.
• Minimum two years of direct experience with children under 13.
• Experience in supervisory roles within childcare or youth programs.
• Familiarity with DYCD and OCFS regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct afterschool programs serving K-5 or 6-8, ensuring age-appropriate activities.
• Develop and implement engaging, evidence-based programming.
• Prioritize inclusion and mental wellness for participants and staff.
• Oversee budget, procurement, and compliance with contract requirements.
• Establish partnerships with schools, funders, and community organizations.
• Lead staff development, supervision, and performance management.
