Job summary

Harlem YMCA is seeking a Program Director to lead our Afterschool initiative under the Youth & Family Director. This role guides a holistic youth development program across multiple sites, ensuring quality and alignment with DYCD standards.

The position focuses on team leadership, program excellence, mental wellness integration, and rigorous operational oversight within a community-first framework.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
• New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential or equivalent.
• School-Age Child Care Credential or other recognized credential for school-age development.
• Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving K-5 or 6-8 to ensure age-appropriate activities aligned with DYCD requirements.
• Develop and execute strategies to recruit and retain participants and achieve high attendance.
• Provide mental wellness resources and supervise staff to support social-emotional learning.
• Manage program budget, expenses, and compliance with contractual reporting.
