Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York seeks a Program Director for Vanderbilt YMCA in New York, NY. You will lead afterschool programs (K-5/6-8), manage staff, ensure DYCD alignment, and drive high-quality, inclusive services for youth and families.

The role emphasizes budgeting, stakeholder collaboration, data-driven improvements, and strong supervision to advance learning and wellbeing in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• One of the listed credentials or degrees as specified in the posting.
• Minimum two years of direct experience with children under 13.
• At least one year of supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field.
• Current Pediatrics CPR or First Aid certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving the designated grade level band (K-5 or 6-8), ensuring activities are age-appropriate and aligned with DYCD requirements.
• Develop and execute strategies to recruit and retain participants with high attendance and engagement.
• Oversee the program budget, order supplies, and track all expenses.
• Establish and maintain connections with host school administration, partners, funders, and external evaluators to enhance services.
• Lead staff in implementing mental wellness supports and SEL programming within the afterschool setting.
• Maintain documentation per OCFS, DOH, DYCD, and YMCA requirements.
