Job summary

The West Side YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, seeks a Program Director to lead afterschool initiatives with a strategic and operational focus. You will supervise a diverse staff, design engaging programs, and ensure compliance with contracts and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• The role requires an Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field.
• New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential is necessary.
• School-Age Child Care Credential or other recognized credential is preferred.
• At least two years of college with 18 credits in relevant fields are required.
• Minimum two years of direct experience with children under age 13.
• One year supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field.
• CPR or First Aid certification preferred.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills and leadership capabilities with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving K-5 or 6-8, ensuring activities are age-appropriate and compliant with DYCD.
• Ensure programs are integrated into the community served and meet diverse needs.
• Develop strategies to recruit and retain participants and maintain high attendance.
• Use quantitative measures and external evaluations to demonstrate program effectiveness.
• Analyze data to identify trends and improve program quality against goals.
• Establish partnerships with local schools, funders, and evaluators to enhance services.
• Lead staff in implementing mental wellness support for participants and families.
• Coordinate crisis plans with school social workers and health staff.
