Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York seeks a Program Director for the McBurney YMCA Afterschool program in New York, NY. You will lead a diverse staff, design engaging activities, and drive high-quality programming with emphasis on safety and outcomes.

You will oversee budgets, collaborate with schools and partners, and ensure compliance with OCFS/DOH/DYCD standards while promoting inclusion and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or credential in a related field.
• New York State credentials preferred for program administration.
• Experience with school-age children and afterschool programming.
• Minimum two years' experience supervising staff in childcare or related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving designated grade bands (K-5 or 6-8).
• Ensure programs align with DYCD requirements and community needs.
• Develop strategies to recruit and retain participants with high attendance.
• Use data and evaluations to improve program quality and outcomes.
• Manage budgets, supplies, and expenses; ensure fiscal compliance.
• Build relationships with host schools, funders, and evaluators.
• Lead staff in implementing social-emotional learning and mental wellness initiatives.

New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential
