Job summary

Commonpoint seeks a part-time Group Leader to help implement high-quality afterschool programming with a focus on safety, inclusion, and positive youth development. You will supervise youth, support activity delivery, and assist with daily program operations under program leadership.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, adherence to agency policies, and flexibility to participate in meetings and training as needed. This position is in-person at multiple NY locations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent or 1 year of experience with children under 13.
• Staff must be at least 18 to supervise participants independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth and work with staff.
• Must complete all required background clearances and onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants during program hours, transitions, trips, and events.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, engaging environment following safety procedures.
• Support positive behavior using restorative and trauma-informed practices.
• Report incidents, injuries, and concerns according to procedures.
• Assist with daily program activities including academics, enrichment, SEL, leadership, and STEM tasks.
• Help with materials, setup and cleanup, and homework assistance as assigned.
• Participate in meetings, training, and coaching.
