Job summary

Commonpoint in New York is seeking a Youth Worker to support afterschool programming, supervise participants, and help deliver academic, enrichment, SEL, leadership, recreation, literacy, and STEM activities. You will work with program leadership to maintain a safe, engaging environment and support daily operations while ensuring quality standards.

This seasonal/part-time role reports to the Program Director and requires strong communication, relationship-building, and teamwork, with flexibility

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent OR 1 year of experience with children under 13.
Staff must be at least 18 years old to supervise participants independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships and work with staff.

Responsibilities

Supervise participants during program hours, transitions, trips and events.
Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and follow safety procedures.
Support activities across academics, enrichment, SEL, leadership, recreation, literacy and STEM.
Assist with family events, showcases and field trips.
Report incidents and participate in trainings and meetings.
