Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County in San Diego is hiring a Youth Development Teacher for the McKinley Elementary site, guiding 5–12 year olds in after-school activities and safe, engaging learning experiences.

You will work under the Site Supervisor, plan and implement activities, and collaborate with school staff to deliver high-quality outcomes while modeling positive behavior and effective communication with families.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old with a high school diploma.
• Completion of 12 units in Child Development or related field.
• 6 additional units if currently enrolled in related field.

Responsibilities

• Implement age-appropriate program activities.
• Actively supervise participants and ensure safety.
• Communicate professionally with participants, families and school staff.
• Collaborate with school staff to align academic activities.
• Provide positive behavior guidance for students.
• Ensure program meets YMCA requirements.
• Maintain space, cleanliness and safety.
• Follow emergency procedures.
