Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is hiring a Youth Development Teacher for after-school programs serving youth aged 5–12. You will lead engaging activities, supervise participants, and work with families and school partners to provide safe, developmentally appropriate experiences.

The role requires 12+ CDU in Child Development and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days. Flexible schedule with afternoon shifts at Farmlab sites.

Qualifications

• Completion of 12 units in Child Development (CD) or related field with passing grades.
• Completion of 6 units with 6 more units in current enrollment in Child Development or related field.

Responsibilities

• Implement age-appropriate program activities aligned with YMCA goals.
• Actively supervise participants to ensure safety at all times.
• Communicate professionally with participants, families, school and district personnel.
• Collaborate with school personnel and partners to align high-quality activities.
• Provide positive behavior guidance to support development and well-being.
• Follow emergency procedures to ensure safety of participants and staff.
