Job summary

The YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Youth Development Teacher to lead after-school programs for youths aged 5-12 at McKinley Elementary. You will plan, implement, and facilitate activities, supervise participants, and ensure safety and positive learning experiences in a supportive environment.

Under the Site Supervisor, you’ll manage a small team, collaborate with school staff, and help youth grow into responsible, engaged community members while maintaining program quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate.
• Completion, with passing grades, of 12 units in Child Development (CD) or related field.
• Completion, with passing grades, of 6 units with 6 more units of current enrollment in Child Development or related field will be considered.
• Minimum of 6 months working in a child and youth development, education, or comparable setting preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to speak, read, and write the English language.

Responsibilities

• Implement age-appropriate program activities for 5-12 year olds.
• Actively supervise participants ensuring safety at all times.
• Communicate professionally with participants, families, school and district personnel, and community partners.
• Collaborate with school personnel to align academic activities and student services.
• Provide positive behavior guidance to support development and safety.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
