Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Youth Development Teacher to work directly with youth in a Licensed before and after-school setting at a local elementary school site. You will lead activities, promote safety, and model positive behavior under supervision.

The position requires planning, implementation, and facilitation of activities for ages 5–12, and leadership of YMCA Youth Development Aide. Availability: Mon-Thu 1:30pm–6pm; Fri 1pm–6pm, at least 4 days per week.

Qualifications

• 12 units in Child Development or related field with passing grades.

Responsibilities

• Implement age-appropriate program activities that engage students in active and meaningful experiences and in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Actively supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times.
• Communicate with participants, families, school staff, and community partners in a timely, positive, and professional manner.
• Collaborate with school personnel and program partners to align high quality academic activities and coordinate student services.
• Provide positive behavior guidance supporting developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students.
• Ensure program meets YMCA requirements and maintains a safe, organized space.
• Follow emergency procedures to ensure participant and staff safety.
• Provide leadership to assigned YMCA Youth Development Aide; be flexible with daily schedules.
