Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a full-time onsite Lead Instructor for the BEFORE/AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT program. You will guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning while modeling Y values and fostering teamwork.

You will support the program supervisor, help teach social-emotional learning, encourage skill building and safe, engaging activities, and assist with the Play Everyday Program during midday hours at participating schools.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older.
• 2+ years of experience with children in camps, child care, tutoring or nannying.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Completion of minimum STARS training.
• Food worker card required.
• Pre-employment TB test and MMR vaccination per DCYF requirements.
• Background check clearance (MERIT) required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health, safety and a positive experience.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicates day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary and abuse prevention procedures.
• Maintains site appearance, décor and cleanliness.
• May prepare and serve snacks and clean the snack area.
• Assists with Check-in/Check-out for parents.
• Assumes program operations when needed due to staff absence.
• Provides on-site support for Play Everyday Program.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; performs other duties.
