Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join a team that produces the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk for the USAF. The role includes serving as SME for technical writing, guiding inspectors, and developing best practices to ensure high-quality documentation across shifts.

Requirements include an AS degree in Quality/Technical Writing or related STEM or 3 years in manufacturing quality, plus strong written/verbal communication. Citizenship and security suitability are required.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements in electro-mechanical assembly.
• Interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and repetition.
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Self-driven with ability to deliver high-quality results across a global team.
• Ability to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain them.
• Generate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Be the primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Support Saab values and a people-first culture.
