Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team manufacturing rear section of T-7A Redhawk for USAF. You will serve as local SME for technical writing, guiding inspectors across shifts and ensuring accurate documentation.

You will handle NCRs, inspection plans, FAIs, MRBs, and maintain best practices while aligning with ISO/AS quality requirements. The role requires clear written and verbal communication and the ability to collaborate across a global team; extended hours

Qualifications

• AS degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM, or 3 years in manufacturing quality.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and update best practices for technical writing.
• Prepare NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, MRB dispositions.
• Understand and apply customer/industry quality requirements.
• Contribute to on-time delivery by providing high-quality documentation.
