Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a Mechanical Systems Designer to develop and operate electrical test equipment for qualification and acceptance testing of flight avionics for New Glenn.

You will design, integrate, and build test systems, release documentation in Windchill, manage BOMs, procure components, and support production integration with technicians while ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on assembly and test of aerospace hardware or systems.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident or eligible per regulations.
  • B.S. in relevant technical field.
  • Experience with work order management and production scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 2D and 3D modelling of electrical systems under design.
  • Manage BOM and assembly configurations; release docs in PLM (Windchill).
  • Configure test setups, fixtures, instrumentation per test plans.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities for build of test systems.
  • Commit redlines to docs during fabrication.
  • Maintain test equipment and workspace cleanliness.
  • Ensure operations are safe, on time, professional.
  • Work with test, flight, safety hardware and shop equipment.
  • Identify and mitigate costs, schedule and technical risks.
  • Develop test procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on test materials.
  • Inter-organizational interactions on production test status.
  • Work independently to develop solutions.
  • Mentor & train other personnel.
