Job summary

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. seeks a Technical Sales Manager for Aerospace and Defense to drive technical engagement, support complex opportunities, and grow bookings across North American accounts.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance to craft technical and commercial solutions that meet customer requirements. The role requires a strong optoelectronics background, 5+ years in technical sales, and the ability to travel up to 50% domestically.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, optics, business or related technical field.
• 5+ years of proven experience in technical sales within Aerospace and Defense.
• Strong background in optoelectronics, photonics, sensors, diodes, or related manufacturing tech.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, export control, traceability, and config control.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; CRM usage for opportunities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify customer requirements, qualify opportunities, and develop technical/commercial solutions.
• Translate complex capabilities into clear customer value propositions.
• Engage engineers, program managers, procurement, and senior stakeholders with a consultative approach.
• Manage sales funnels, forecasts, proposals, account plans, and revenue growth.
• Coordinate with internal teams to meet customer expectations and deadlines.
• Support meetings, trade shows, and program development activities.
