Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Modeling Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The role focuses on developing CAD models for free flight and forced oscillation tests to validate trajectory simulations.

Responsibilities include creating models in .igs/.stp, designing oscillation configurations, and enabling movable centers of gravity for testing and rapid prototype fabrication.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of CAD modeling experience or 2 semesters of CAD coursework.
• Experience with .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces at reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar.
• Design models with movable center of gravity.
