Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley. The CAD Model Design Intern will support the Entry Systems Modeling project to develop free flight and forced oscillation model design for rapid prototype fabrication.

Qualifications

• Undergrad/grad in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 2 years CAD experience or 2 CAD-related courses.
• Proficient with .igs/.stp formats and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces at reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
