Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The role focuses on developing free-flight and forced-oscillation CAD models for rapid prototyping and validation of trajectory simulations.

The internship requires an engineering student with CAD experience, onsite availability at Langley, and a strong grasp of IGS/STP CAD formats for model creation and testing in wind tunnel

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' CAD model development experience or 2 semesters of CAD coursework.
• Experience with .igs or .stp and CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Develop CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces at reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free-flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
