Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Wells, ME is seeking a bench mechanic for 2nd shift (Mon-Thu, 3:30pm–1:30am). You will perform pre-coating operations, surface prep, masking, and post-coating tasks on aerospace engine components.

Training, troubleshooting, and minor equipment repairs are part of daily duties. The role requires 0–1 years of related experience or a post-secondary credential, HS/GED, and familiarity with precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of related experience or a post-secondary degree/certificate.
• High School or GED required.
• Experience with metal finishing methods, spray coating/paint application, machining, grinding, or welding.
• Experience with computerized machine operation.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-coating operations from verbal, written, or computer instructions.
• Deburring, blending, polishing, grinding, drilling, or grit blasting as needed.
• Perform post coating tasks and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• Carry out minor repairs on coating equipment when applicable.
• Check parts for visual and dimensional requirements with measuring tools.
• Support engineers in developing new or changed operations.
• Suggest improvements to operating parameters and processes.
• Maintain flexibility for shifts and overtime to meet workflow.
