Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Wells, Maine is seeking a Bench Mechanic for a Friday–Sunday 3x12 shift (36 hours paid as 40). Hours typically 6:00 am–6:30 pm.

Under supervision you will perform pre-coating operations, surface preparation and masking, and post-coating tasks on aerospace engine components using hand and power tools. You will deburr, blend, polish, measure parts with micrometers and height gauges, perform preventive maintenance, assist engineers, and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years related experience or completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field.
• High School or GED

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-coating operations per supervisor instructions.
• Surface preparation and masking of parts.
• Post coating tasks including removing parts from fixtures and masking.
• Deburring, blending, polishing, grinding, or drilling and using hand/power tools on engine components.
• Check parts to meet visual and dimensional requirements using micrometers, verniers, height gauges and fixed gauges.
• Assist engineers and others in developing new or changed operations.
• Make recommendations for changing and improving operating parameters and processes.
