Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration’s West Texas VA Health Care System seeks an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) to support the Community Care Service in coordinating care across clinics and community resources. The AMSA collaborates with the patient care team to manage schedules, secure messaging, and readiness for visits.

Responsibilities include prioritizing tasks, handling administrative duties, and entering data into the electronic record while maintaining professional communication

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship as required by federal policy.
Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
English proficiency in speaking and writing is required.
Grade level: one year of creditable experience equivalent to GS-05.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with patient care team to review clinic appointment availability and adjust schedules.
Assist in communications during inpatient to outpatient discharge and follow-up care.
Enter information into the electronic health record and maintain accurate patient data.
Monitor pre-appointment information to ensure readiness for visits.
Participate in team huddles/meetings to plan and problem-solve patient care.
