Job summary

The incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant within the Community Care Service (CCS) at the West Texas VA Health Care System (WTCAHCS).

The AMSA works collaboratively with others in an interdisciplinary care delivery setting and independently performs responsibilities with little supervision - and demonstrates the ability to set priorities and deadlines - adjusting the flow and sequence of work to meet team and/or patient needs.

Qualifications

• English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• The AMSA performs administrative patient support in an interdisciplinary care delivery model.
• Coordinates with patient care teams to review clinic appointment availability and adjust schedules.
• Manages patient communications (secure messaging, calls, e-mails) and follow-up care (consults, tests).
• Participates in team huddles/meetings to plan and problem solve for patient care.

Education

High school diploma - General Education Development equivalency certificate - or proficiency certificate from a State or territorial-level Board or Department of Education
