Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks an Advanced Medical Support Assistant for the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center to support Clinic Practice Management across Tuscaloosa, Selma, and Mobile Health Clinics.

The role may be aligned with PACT, BHIP, Ancillary Services, Consult Management, Call Center, or Specialty Care settings. Responsibilities include answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling and updating appointments, verifying demographics and insurance, and coordinating transfers

Qualifications

• United States citizenship required.
• Experience: None.
• Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• English proficiency: Able to communicate in English.
• Grandfathering provisions apply for current VA MSAs.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, greet patients and relay messages to staff.
• Schedule, cancel, or reschedule appointments and referrals.
• Enter and verify patient demographics and insurance information at check-in.
• Coordinate administrative transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals.
• Monitor appointment requests from multiple electronic sources.
• Support daily clinic operations and huddle planning.
