Job summary

Cable One (Sparklight) is seeking an Advance Technician to install and repair fiber and coaxial networks, diagnose issues, and support customer connectivity. You’ll work on Headend, HFC, and fiber systems, interpreting maps and ensuring documentation aligns with field findings.

Training and career growth are emphasized. The role requires flexibility for variable schedules, weekend/holiday work, and a valid driver’s license, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete Sparklight Technical Training Center Advanced Technician course within 6 months of accepting position.
• A working knowledge of signal level meters, volt-ohm meters (VOM), leakage detection equipment, time domain reflectometer (TDR), optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) and other related test equipment.
• Knowledgeable of rules and regulations of various regulatory bodies impacting the operation of a telecommunications system including, but not limited to, FCC, NEC, NESC, OSHA, and DOT, as well as all local ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining high quality connectivity by troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions in the Headend, HFC and fiber optic networks, and the Home Terminal Units.
• Repairing customer-owned equipment and supporting local plant performance issues using electronic test equipment.
• Reading and interpreting system/network design maps and verifying as built documentation against existing records.
• Splicing and terminating coaxial and fiber optic cables, mounting devices, activating actives devices, and testing for optimal performance per specs.
• Performing underground facility locates and creating maps/drawings to assist cost estimation for plant/drop extensions.
