Job summary

Key People in Connecticut is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join its clinical leadership team. The ADON will report to the Director of Nursing and support day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and QAPI initiatives.

The role includes leading charge nurses and supervisors, coordinating with physicians and teams, and ensuring the highest practicable well-being for residents. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position in a premier nonprofit facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN) is required.
• Current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Connecticut.
• Active CPR certification is required.
• Minimum of two years of nursing supervisory/leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or related healthcare setting.
• Minimum of six months of restorative nursing experience.
• In-depth knowledge of long-term care regulations, CMS Requirements of Participation, medical practices, and state health codes.
• Strong independent clinical judgment, documentation skills, and ability to perform clinical rounds and emergency resident support.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning and directing day-to-day nursing operations in compliance with standards.
• Provide leadership to Charge Nurses and Nurse Supervisors and delegate operational authority as appropriate.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds to monitor care delivery, medication passes, treatment protocols, and infection prevention standards.
• Participate in resident assessments and develop person-centered care plans.
• Assist with staffing needs, scheduling, and posting daily staffing information.
• Support recruitment, orientation, licensing verification, and performance evaluations of nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with physicians, consultants, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Lead QAPI activities and assist in surveys and plans of correction.
• Oversee medication administration and report medication errors to the Director of Nursing.
• Assist with budget planning and resource allocations.
• Plan staff in-service training with the Staff Development Coordinator.
