Job summary

Southern California Hospitals is hiring a Patient Access Rep II in Culver City. The role ensures efficient admission of inpatients and outpatients, collects accurate patient information, and informs patients about hospital policies and procedures.

The incumbent will handle admissions, pre-certifications, and billing-related tasks while operating the PBX system and ensuring data accuracy. Police and safety guidelines must be followed with confidentiality maintained at all times.

Qualifications

• Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain a workload pace.
• Computer literacy and proficiency.
• Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire (Hollywood and Van Nuys only).

Responsibilities

• Registers all patients according to department procedures and completes admission forms accurately.
• Pre-certification and authorization requirements are met; explains policies on payment for service.
• Operates PBX and answers calls; paging when required.
• Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and handles delinquency referrals.
• Provides a safe environment and maintains patient confidentiality.
