Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in St. Louis is seeking an Admissions Specialist to welcome clients entering care and guide them through the admissions process, respond to referrals, facilitate screenings, and support program transitions.

You will work with clinical, care management, and billing teams to ensure accurate records and smooth transitions, maintaining census levels and complying with relevant standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel; knowledge of confidentiality laws.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming admissions experience by building rapport and delivering excellent customer service.
• Guide prospective clients through screenings and document referral information using the proper process.
• Complete admissions in databases, including face sheets, releases of information, residency documentation, and financial information.
• Partner with Care Managers to coordinate insurance information and support transitions into services.
• Collaborate with Billing to ensure admissions, transfers, and discharges are completed within required timeframes.
• Maintain census levels consistent with service models across detox, residential, and outpatient services.
• Maintain waiting lists per CARF and DMH standards.
• Build professional relationships with clients, referral sources, and coworkers.
• Support clinical team with letters, forms, and administrative needs.
• Enter data, complete required reports, and maintain records.
• Review files, compile chart information, and correct deficiencies within timeframes.
• Operate phone systems and ensure timely, professional communication.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Leadership.
