South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking an proactive Administrative Assistant to support the University Student Union’s daily operations and provide essential administrative help across its offices, events, and services.
The role focuses on customer service for students, staff, and visitors, with responsibilities including coordinating office operations, maintaining records, supporting programs and events, and ensuring smooth administrative services throughout the department.

The University Student Union was built with the student experience being the key driving force behind the design. It is more than just a building; it truly is the heart of campus life at South Dakota State University. The Union is home to the Offices of Career Development, the Student Engagement Center, and Student Activities and Orientation. While the University Student Union is certainly a buzzing hub for student life, Faculty, Staff and anyone visiting campus also benefit from the many amenities offered including a variety of meeting rooms, dining options for every appetite, and the ability to shop for the latest fashion at Jackrabbit Central.

Thie position provides comprehensive administrative support for the University Student Union and its functional areas, including Event Services, Operations, Student Activities & Orientation, and Student Union administration. This role serves as a primary customer service contact for students, employees, campus visitors, vendors, and external guests. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating office operations, maintaining accurate records and financial documentation, supporting departmental programs and events, and ensuring efficient administrative services throughout the department.

The student union and activities environment is dynamic, interactive and home to a wide range of services and programs. The "noise" described above can be the busy-ness of the building, as well as the front office door intermittent traffic and much student interaction. There are, at times, amplified productions in the adjacent spaces of the building to this office.

University Student Union – events, programs, services may be throughout the facility, requiring this position to work off site from office at times; i.e. working with a reception or scheduled event in a venue within the facility, move in weekend outdoor picnic activity, etc. This position assists whenever "all hands on deck" is required related to facilty management/event services.
