Job summary

Allegiance Trucks in Bridgeport, CT seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to manage high-volume AP tasks for a commercial truck dealership. Responsibilities include invoice coding, vendor communications, and timely payments. A two-year accounting background and strong Excel/Word skills are required.

AA/BA in accounting is preferred, with DMS experience and knowledge of IRS forms a plus. The role supports the AP Manager with 1099 filings and additional duties, within a veteran-friendly,

Qualifications

• AA, BA, or BS in accounting; minimum two years of related work experience.
• Experience with electronic accounts payable software is a plus.
• DMS experience is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Receives invoices directly from vendors and/or dealership locations and ensures proper coding and approval in the electronic accounts payable system.
• Reviews all payment requests for appropriate documentation and requisite approval.
• Ensures properly coded/approved invoices are entered into accounting system.
• Ensure signed copies of IRS Form W-9, vendor service agreements, and any other contracts are on file.
• Prioritizes invoices for payment to take advantage of discounts, avoid interest and/or penalties, and adhere to terms.
• Corresponds with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding payment status inquiries.
• Reconciles vendor statements to vendor history in accounting system and resolves discrepancies.
• Adheres to company policies and communicates deviations and weaknesses to management.
• Assist Accounts Payable Manager with payment batches, annual 1099 filings, and other duties.
