Job summary

CAMS in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to support the Accounting Department with weekly check runs, invoicing, and data entry across projects. The role acts as a backup for other team members under supervision of the Accounting Supervisor/Manager.

Qualified candidates have 5–7+ years in accounts payable, familiarity with ERP systems (Ogsys preferred), strong Excel/Word skills, and a track record of accuracy and discretion with confidential information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 5-7+ years AP experience in oil & gas.
• Proficient with ERP systems, preferably Ogsys.
• Data entry, general accounting knowledge, and experience with accounting software.
• Excellent technical and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership characteristics and potential.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment without close supervision.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Pro.

Responsibilities

• Monitor AP aging and follow up on outstanding items.

• Review and recording of expense reports.
• Verify invoices have supporting documents before entry.
• Verify coding and bank instructions on invoices.
• Other duties as assigned by AP department.

Job description

The accounts payable clerk is responsible for weekly check runs to pay the bills incurred by the projects in day-to-day operations and provides clerical assistance for the Accounting Department. The AP clerk also acts as a backup for other team members. These responsibilities are carried out under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor and/or Manager. All duties are carried out adhering to the Corporate policies, procedures, standards and resources.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the department that initiated the purchase
• Generate year-end 1099’s
• Prepare and issue weekly check runs and ACH payments in accordance with payment terms and cash management guidelines
• Keep accounting/invoices files up to date
• Monitor AP aging and follow up on outstanding items to maintain accurate payable balances
• Perform data entry of invoices into TRAILD and Acumatica
• Resolve discrepancies for invoice and payment issues
• Review and recording of expense reports
• Review invoices for accuracy and verify a purchase order supports them, work order request, or other approved requisition document
• Verify coding and bank instructions on invoices is accurate before data entry
• Other duties as assigned by the accounts payable department

Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum 5-7+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably in medium to large sized oil & gas company
• Proficient with ERP systems, preferably Ogsys
• Data entry, general accounting knowledge, and experience with accounting software

• Proven ability to work in a team environment and perform effectively without close supervision
• Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Pro required

$55,000 - $58,000 a year

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
