Responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and variances.
• Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support annual audits by preparing documentation and schedules.
• Coordinate provider credentialing and recredentialing activities.
• Process provider enrollments, revalidations, and updates with payers (Medicare/Medicaid/commercial).
• Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations.

NATURE OF WORKFairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to join the Finance team. This unique position combines accounting, medical staff credentialing, payer enrollment, payroll backup, and regulatory compliance responsibilities. The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial integrity, audit readiness, provider credentialing processes, and enrollment activities. This position is responsible for month end and year end accounting support, journal entries, bank reconciliations, audit preparation, provider credentialing, OPPE/FPPE reporting, payer enrollments, and payroll backup.
