Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is hiring an Account Director to own a defined book of recurring clients. The role focuses on retention, upselling, and maintaining a single client voice in collaboration with strategists and delivery teams.

You will manage a seven-figure annual quota, working remotely (USA or Canada) with a base plus commission structure. The ideal candidate has agency account management experience and a proven client-retention track record.

• Agency account management experience in marketing, digital, creative, or advertising.
• Track record of retaining clients and upselling with measurable numbers.
• Comfort carrying a quota.
• Clear, calm communication with senior client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own retention across your book of clients, renewals, and early warning when an account drifts.
• Identify upsell opportunities and sell them within each client.
• Manage a seven-figure annual quota across retention and upsells.
• Collaborate with strategists and delivery teams to ensure a single, clear voice for the client.

About The Role

Blacksmith Agency is a remote digital agency running paid media, SEO, CRO and web for marketing-led brands. As Account Director you own an established book of recurring agency clients. Our sales team wins new clients; you keep them and grow them.

What You Will Own

• Retention across your book: the relationship, the renewal and the early warning when an account is drifting.
• Upsells and expansion: finding the next project inside each client and selling it.
• A seven-figure annual quota across retention and upsells.
• Working with the strategists and delivery team who run the work, so the client hears one clear voice.

What You Need

• Agency account management experience. Marketing, digital, creative or advertising agency. This is a must.
• A record of keeping clients and selling them more work, with numbers you can walk us through.
• Comfort carrying a quota.
• Clear, calm communication with senior client stakeholders.

Base plus commission, split 50/50.
