Job summary

Bay Area Rapid Transit seeks an experienced Manager of Access & Accessible Services to lead the ADA compliance and paratransit program within the Accessibility Unit of the Customer Access and Accessibility Department.

The role drives an organization-wide accessibility strategy, secures funding for innovative projects, and serves as a primary liaison to the Bay Area accessibility community while overseeing budgets and contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or a related field.
• Five years of full-time professional experience in access and accessibility programs.
• At least two years of management experience.
• Substitution: additional professional experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Manage activities of the Access and Accessible Services program within the Customer Access Department.
• Plan and monitor budgets for accessibility projects and programs.
• Represent people with disabilities in planning and operational activities.
• Monitor regulatory changes and adjust policies to maintain compliance.
• Oversee ADA-related training and accessibility initiatives across the district.
• Coordinate with staff and outside agencies to advance accessibility goals.
• Develop and publish program guidance, goals, and metrics.
• Review and adjust capital project plans for accessibility considerations.
• Lead inter-department collaboration to ensure universal access across services.
• Oversee the development of elevator mitigation programs in response to litigation.
• Develop annual budgets for the programs and manage contractor work.
• Select, train, and evaluate staff; address deficiencies as needed.
• Prepare and distribute accessibility-related publications and communications.
• Respond to inquiries and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Stay abreast of trends, innovations and legislation in accessibility.
