Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking an Access Services Representative I to help register patients, verify insurance, and collect patient financial responsibilities across multiple locations.

You will conduct patient interviews, determine eligibility, establish patient liability, and support revenue cycle activities while delivering compassionate service in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Requires good listening and communication skills, and professional telephone etiquette.
• Demonstrates empathy and strong customer service in a high-stress environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in data entry with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification and billing.
• Registers patients at multiple locations and works in different department areas; identifies process improvement opportunities.
• Interacts with other departments to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient eligibility for insurance coverage and benefit levels; collects patient dues and establishes liability; negotiates payment arrangements.
• May perform cashiering duties following policies; provide directions and mobility assistance to patients when applicable.
• Adheres to compliance with cash policy, government payor and patient safety requirements for proper ID.
• Escalates potential service issues to management when necessary.
