Job summary

Weber State University is seeking a Science Tutor for the Upward Bound program to support high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment throughout the week. This is a pooled hourly position with an $12.00 hourly pay rate; duties include delivering grade-level science activities, mentoring students, and assisting with science concepts as requested.

Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary science program or have equivalent knowledge;

• Post-secondary student with a major in the relevant science field or equivalent knowledge/experience.
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, and/or serving high school students.

Responsibilities

• Provide science tutoring to Upward Bound high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment during the week.
• Implement grade-level specific college prep science activities and lessons as needed.
• This is a pooled position; applicants are selected from the pool as openings arise and notified when opportunities exist.

Job Summary/Basic Function

Provide science tutoring to Upward Bound high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment throughout the week, as requested by students. May Occasionally implement grade-level specific college preparatory science activities and lessons.
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified

Required Qualifications

Involved in a post-secondary institution with a major in the pertinent academic discipline or evidence of equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
Experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or community service with high school level students.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate of TRIO program or experience in overcoming the challenges and/or circumstances similar to those of the target population.

Due to the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
