Weber State University in Ogden, UT invites applications for an Academic Year English Tutor in a pooled, hourly, work-study role. The tutor will provide English tutoring to Upward Bound high school students, with Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and additional appointments during the week.

This position requires current enrollment in a related field and tutoring/mentoring experience with high school students.

• Involved in a post-secondary institution with a major in the pertinent discipline or evidence of equivalent knowledge/experience.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or community service with high school students.

Job Summary / Basic Function

Provide English tutoring to Upward Bound high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment throughout the week, as requested by students. May Occasionally implement grade-level specific college preparatory English activities and lessons.
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified

Required Qualifications

Involved in a post-secondary institution with a major in the pertinent academic discipline or evidence of equivalent knowledge and/or experience. Experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or community service with high school level students.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate of TRIO program or experience in overcoming the challenges and/or circumstances similar to those of the target population.

Due to the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months. Criminal Background check is required as a condition of employment. If you are hired, please keep in mind that you will need to complete the appropriate Payroll and HR documents prior to beginning work. The screening of applicants will begin immediately.
