Weber State University invites applications for the Science Tutor for SSS STEM and Peer Educator position at the Ogden campus. This hourly, work-study role supports SSS STEM students through one-on-one tutoring and scheduled sessions, requiring a B+ or higher in relevant courses and strong communication.
Tutors receive training, will work Fall and Spring Semesters, and contribute by mentoring students on campus resources, transition to college, and career preparation.

Tutor Science classes to WSU Students who are participating in SSS STEM. Tutoring is individual and by appointment. Tutors must have a grade of B+ or above in the class tutoring.
Training will be provided and will be required.
Tutors will work Fall and Spring Semesters. Tutors hours will vary based off needs of SSS STEM Students and tutors.
Peer Educator will be responsible for supporting the success by providing intentional mentoring on a one on one in the following topic areas:
NOTE: This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
Good communication skills
Grades of B+ or higher in classes needed for tutoring.

Ability to receive detailed information with or without assistance., Expressing or exchanging ideas. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly.
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing only occasionally if ever.
Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
Criminal Background check is required as a condition of employment.
Due to the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
