Job summary

Albany Med seeks a Plastic Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to grow our plastic surgery division. The role emphasizes reconstructive microsurgery, with opportunities in breast reconstruction, craniofacial and hand surgery, and general reconstruction.

The candidate will join a collaborative faculty dedicated to clinical care, teaching, and research while taking independent hand and face trauma call and contributing to VA clinical care as needed.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and completion of plastic surgery residency.
• Board-eligible or board-certified by ABPS or foreign equivalent.
• Eligible for New York medical licensure.
• Demonstrated teaching ability in clinical and didactic settings.
• Fellowship in microvascular surgery is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide reconstructive microsurgery including microvascular breast reconstruction and other listed procedures.
• Take independent hand and face trauma call.
• Contribute to clinical care, education, and research.
• Support transgender care and aesthetic expansion initiatives.
• Deliver clinical care at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

Education

MD or DO degree (or equivalent)

Completion of an ACGME-accredited Plastic Surgery residency

Board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, or foreign equivalent recognized by the ABPS

Eligible for New York State medical licensure

Fellowship training in microvascular surgery (desirable)
